I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel. Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind). So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me? Pantser? I think? But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid. And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly. And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.

Hey everyone, I hope all is well with all of you! I actually have a quick request-- I've been exceptionally busy and scatter-brained lately, and it's been very difficult for me to stay organized. So if I owe you a note, reply, something commission-related etc, would you be so kind as to drop me a little reminder in the form of a comment on this journal? I do my best to stay on top of things but just to give you a clue, I spend an average of 1-3 hours on the phone to the States each day because of the stuff I've mentioned in prior journals. It's a complete mess and it's messing with my head. 0_o;

But despite that I keep moving forward! Just two commissions to go! With no unplanned interruptions they should be finished on Tuesday *fingers crossed*. After that, I'll probably take the rest of the week to clean the house, which is in a horrible state. Friday we have an appointment with Nintendo to go play Skyward Sword all day. Fingers also crossed I don't get shouldered off the consoles like I have all the previous times by the guys on our team *sigh*.

Anyway, a quick note that my "Game Merch" journal (the one where I list games merch we have for sale) is out of date. Some of the items in the journal have already sold, and I still haven't updated with the newer merch we've gotten this year nor from Gamescom. Once commissions die down and I get a moment to straighten things up (i.e. clean the office) I'll probably spend a day updating that information. Then, next week, I may take another batch of commissions because we really need the money. Most importantly however, I hope to put up my Halloween decorations this week!

I start a new schedule tomorrow since my husband starts a part-time job (it's a start!! Still not what we need but fingers crossed it grows from here <3). My schedule's going to shift by 5 hours. ;__; It's alright though, it's autumn and time to do a shift. Frankly I'm looking forward to things settling down a little more and having some consistency in my life, even if it's in the little things.

Thanks, I got your note but hadn't replied. It wouldn't hurt to resend info when you get back from holiday just as a fresher reminder closer to the symphony date. We also might not need the hotel. We entered a contest to win all-inclusive VIP-ish tickets to the symphony, and if we won it includes hotel. Still, it doesn't hurt to plan just in case we don't, right?

I have no clue, I check everyday. Normally results are within a few days of the deadline but it's been 2 weeks now. One would think it wouldn't take TOO much longer because people need enough notice time to arrange work schedules.

Oh I will.

If I understood correctly, VIP includes the best seats in the symphony hall, a meet and greet afterwards with the directors, musicians, etc, as well as some exclusive memorabilia.
