So Begins September

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 2, 2011, 8:30 AM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Playing: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Hey everyone, I hope all is well with all of you. It's officially September! My goodness how time flies. Hence forth in this journal is a general start of the month update.

So! Things have been busy, but both July and August were very good months to me. :) Not so much to my family, and that's been eating a lot of my time and livliness, for lack of a better word, but I'm sure those of you who have been through insane situations know how that takes a toll on you. Still, the rest has been going pretty well, so at the very least I'm content at the moment. And I've been seeing a lot of my friends are doing well! That always makes me happy.

Honestly it's the start of the month and I'm looking at my imminent work schedule and wondering how to pace and get things done. But I've learned over the past several months I drive myself way too hard and it took a toll on my health. I actually sat down today and played Ocarina of Time 3D, as in quality "sat my butt on the couch and played for a good few straight hours +" for the first time in months. I still just adore all the little tweaks and subtle additions to that game. I purchased it on opening day and still haven't completed it, because I've been that busy. :( But needless to say I cruised through all the temples within a 12 hour period, so that feels good! Just taking a break before Ganon's Castle and some side-questing. I must admit however, that when I encountered the revised Shadow Temple, I felt a bit stupid just because if I had played this game within a proper time frame of buying it, my entry for History of Hyrule's contest would have certainly turned out a little differently. However, it still lines up so well I can't complain, though mentally I'm still kicking myself for missing out on a cool costume design element. Ah well, I can always rationalize that "such a costume addition only applied to the ceremonies within the Shadow Temple regarding evil spirits". But at this point, I've probably lost all of you and you have no idea what I'm talking about, so moving onward--!

I'm really encouraging myself to take the weekend off. I really am a workaholic, and even if it looks like I'm not so active art-wise, it's because I'm 100% active with some other mandatory "work in order to eat and pay the bills" activity. I'm 90% positive I have another game assignment coming in on the 5th, so you probably won't see any commission work from me for a week or two (since my next pieces are both the oldest and the largest)! BUT it will feel outstanding to finally have those done! I've felt so guilty for taking so long, it's like some angry gorilla is sitting on my shoulders and slapping me in the head everytime I think about them. However! Once my :star-half: commissions are complete, it should be pretty quick and smoothe sailing, because none of the remaining commissions involve the Deluxe or the normal Pokémon style. Those have been fantastic, but admittedly the death of me regarding pacing. 0_o So once again, because I cannot help myself, I'm so terribly sorry to all my commissionees for taking so long, but I will do my utmost to make the wait worth it in quality, and that's a promise.

Other than that, nothing terribly new here! This month I'm aiming to complete all my commissions and looking forward to the results of the History of Hyrule contest which will leak over into: October we're going to the Zelda Symphony, November we get to fix our sights on the Skyward Sword limited edition package... Oh, and speaking of rare and exciting Zelda stuff, we found out that our rarest Zelda collection piece (the mint Limited Edition Minish Cap box limited to 300 pieces) is worth over $1,300 when we saw another sell on ebay for a bit more than that. My goodness!! We knew it was rare but couldn't believe it until we saw the listing. Craziness...

By now I've rambled on much longer than I needed to I'm sure, so I'll let you all get on with reading more interesting and applicable journals. :giggle: Much love everyone.

I really liked OoT 3D, definitely enjoyed that. :D I've heard the Master Quest on it is really fun as well! (Haven't bothered to try it, what with school re-starting and all that jazz. Didn't want to get re-addicted when I have textbooks to read, lol! :giggle:)

Also WOW that's really cool, about your Minish Cap box! I'm also jealous that you get to go to the symphony. :XD: I'll be going too, if there's one anywhere close, but I'm still crossing my fingers and hoping...!

Glad to hear that you were able to play more of OoT 3D :D How would you rank/compare it, to the original version? :)

You know that's a really tough question! They're both so incredibly "worthy", if you will. On one hand, there's the charm and the difficulty of the original and figuring it out back in 1998, and on the other the "remake" is SO polished, but not in a way that seperates it necessarily, if that makes sense. The additions are so subtle and fit so well, it really is just that "10 years of polish" standard. I'd say, ranking the two side by side in their own times (so original by 1998 standards and remake by today's standards), I'd put them dead neck and neck. :) That good!

Very true :D If I had to choose, I may still have to go with the original version. But, I certainly LOVE the graphic updates that were given to OoT 3D, along with a variety of other polishes. The characters, for one, look AMAZING in 3D :D

I can safely say that, as far as remakes go, OoT 3D did its job nearly perfectly :D
