Want to Buy Hyrule Historia?

Journal Entry: Fri Jan 6, 2012, 10:27 PM
  • Mood: Helpful

Hey everyone, I hope all is well with all of you! So, some of you may have noticed my name crop up recently on History of Hyrule regarding scans for the Skyward Sword manga by Akira Himekawa. This is because, as some of you may have gathered from my last journal, we nabbed a copy of Hyrule Historia! I ordered it the day before it went on sale in Japan via a Japanese bookstore. Now, out of curiosity I decided to pop by ebay and see if they had the book for sale in America, and they do, but still in Japanese and already for twice the price! So I've decided to be very nice to some lucky people. No, I'm not selling my book (ever), BUT I'll share how I got mine! I hear that the book is already sold out in Japan, but who knows? Try what I did and you may get lucky. :)

So! I went online to my very favorite Japanese bookstore, Kinokuniya ( [link] ). They are EXCELLENT with imports. Find the store closest to you and give them a call. Ask to order "Zeruda no Densetsu Hyrule Historia 25th Anniversary". Even better, give them the ISBN number ISBN: 978-4-09-227159-3. The book qualifies as a "guide book" in their system. You can have it ordered and imported, I picked mine up for around $60-$70 including the import fees, taxes etc. MUCH cheaper than what the ebay sellers are offering them for!

You can also keep an eye on the 25th Anniversary Zelda collectibles and offers from Nintendo via the Japanese site. Even if you can't read Japanese, you can navigate pretty well with Google Translate and just using the images as reference. You can find the website here ( [link] ). To use Google Translate ( [link] ) copy and paste the URL of the Japanese webpage into the box, choose "Japanese to English" and the webpage should open up again under Translate, giving you the text in English. Not perfect, but pretty great!

I wish you all the best of luck in your hunt for Zelda collectibles.

Quick question: Can they mail the book to me? All their stores are out of state for me...

I should think they would be able to. They mailed me my Zelda manga books a handful of years ago.

Closest one I can find to me is in LA. And, what I'm gathering from this is - I call them, right?

Yep, call them and see if you can order it. It's always best over the phone.

My bet is on yet another reprint too! I think they've finally realized what they have. I hope I'm right. And, if they do, it will be so much easier for fans to buy through stores like you suggested, the price of shipping with Amazon Japan is just.. .so much higher than that option.

This is great info :) If they're still in stock by later this month, after I get some money for my upcoming b-day, I'll have to give it a thought :D

If it's okay by you, I may actually contact you again later on, for help/info, if I do have the money to spare :)

Thanks :) By the end of the month (my b-day being the 25th), I should know if I have the cash to spare for it, or not (as long as it stays around $60 as you said)
